Tru Align is Easy to Use

Tru Align was invented by an experienced wheel alignment technician to make his work easier and more accurate. Using the system is simple and intuitive.

Here are the easy-to-use instructions:
  • Remove three lug nuts or lug studs.
Clean stud threads and lube, making sure threads are free from burrs or any other damage. Repair or replace if needed before proceeding. If vehicle has lug studs, use studs provided with kit.
  • Install adapters by hand only, until seated, making sure thread size and pitch are correct - gauge provided.
Then, only using a hand wrench, tighten to 10-15 foot-pounds of torque. Be sure to maintain even torque on all adapters.
Warning: Do not use any air or electric wrenches or over-torque the adapters.
  • Install Tru Align Plate on the adapters with the provided bolts and washers. HAND TIGHTEN ONLY at approximately 10-15 foot-pounds, making sure plate is snug. Again, do not over-torque as this might damage the plates, adapters or bolts. Do not use air or electric wrenches.
  • Install alignment heads to the Tru Align plates, making sure fit is even and tight.
  • Install alignment manufacturer’s safety strap or one of your choice.
  • Perform complete head compensation according to alignment manufacturer’s specs.

Hunter Clamp Issue
(Purchased between 2001 and 2006)

If you purchased your Hunter Alignment machine between the years 2001-2006 or upgraded your old clamps during this time you may have clamps with fixed rim studs and without the rim stud retainers in the inside holes. In order for the clamps to perform their stated rating of 13” wheels, these inserts need to be in place and the rim studs must be moved to the inside position.

The Tru Align System plates are 13” in diameter so the best course of action is to order the retainers from Hunter, install them, and move the rim studs to the inside position. This process takes about 15 minutes and the part numbers and pictures are shown below. The clamps state that they will do a 13” wheel so you may or may not be charged for them, depending on your Hunter service man.

In the mean time, you can still use your Tru Align System by using the “Spade Sleeve Adaptors”. In the handout we provide, you will notice how the adaptors go over the outside of the plate and how the plate fits into the outside channel of the Spade Sleeve Adaptor.
